Rangoli Patterns

We folded paper into half four times and then carefully used scissors to cut out a pattern onto the paper.

We unfolded our paper to reveal detailed patterns.

We collected together our pattern grids and laid them out on the playground. We then scattered powder paint over our patterns to create our very own Rangoli patterns.

Rangoli Patterns

The children had a fun afternoon creating their own rangoli pattern templates! They used scissors and paper to cut different shapes and patterns to create their template. 

Then everybody went outside and used powder paint to fill the gaps in their paper and create their own rangoli pattern!

The children wrapped up warm to create their patterns on the playground and they were very pleased with the results!

Indian Animals

We watched a video clip, looked at pictures and talked about different Indian animals and as a class we described some of the animals by their character and the way they look.

We then extended this by drawing detailed pictures of a our chosen animal and created our own words to describe them. 

Here are some of the words we came up with as a class.

Lion: brave, proud, large, golden, brown, yellow, cub, handsome.

Elephant: long trunk, gigantic ears, heavy feet, enormous body, stamping, grey, wrinkly.

Black bear: protective, alert, black, fluffy, fury, scratchy.

Mrs Clarke and Mrs Rush were amazed at the words we thought of and sounded out. Our pictures were detailed so you could see which animal we were drawing and the words we picked matched the animals.

A creative a descriptive afternoon!

Indian sunset

The children used tissue paper to create their own image of an Indian sunset.  They had looked at a picture and talked about what colours they could see.  using glue they then stuck on strips of red, orange, yellow, purple and pink tissue paper onto a circle.  Once they had finished they then got a crayon and rubbed it around the outside to create the haze around the sun.
